Yang Wei
Expert in solid mechanics, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, foreign member of National Academy of Engineering, treasurer and academician of the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World. In 1985, he received his Ph.D. degree from Brown University, USA. He was the Director of the Office of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, the Director of the Department of Degree Management and Graduate Education of the Ministry of Education, the President of Zhejiang University, the Director of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, a member of the Standing Committee of the 12th NPC Standing Committee and a member of the 13th CPPCC National Committee. His research interests include macro and microscopic damage mechanics, reinforced and toughened micro-spacecraft of materials, and cross mechanics.
